Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Curios BV (“Curios,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at curios-it.eu. We use only a small number of cookies, we do not use cookies for advertising or profiling, and we load non-essential cookies only after you give your consent. This policy describes exactly which cookies and storage we use, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains your rights and how we process personal data more generally.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They let a site recognize your browser on later requests — for example, to route you to the same backend server or to remember a preference. This policy also covers similar technologies, including your browser’s localStorage, which stores small amounts of data in your browser but is not transmitted with every request the way an HTTP cookie is. We use one localStorage item to remember your cookie-consent choice, and we describe it alongside our cookies below so you have a complete picture. Throughout this policy, when we say “cookies” we mean both traditional cookies and these similar technologies. Cookies and storage may be set by us (“first-party”) or by a third-party service we use (“third-party”), and may expire when you close your browser (“session”) or remain for a set period (“persistent”).

Cookies We Use

The table below lists every cookie and storage item we use, together with its provider, type, purpose, and duration. We do not use any others. Strictly necessary items are required for the site to function and to keep it secure; analytics items are set only after you accept them in our consent banner.

Name Provider Type Purpose Duration
AWSALB Amazon Web Services (load balancer) Strictly necessary Routes your requests to a consistent backend server (load-balancer session affinity) so the site works reliably. ~7 days
AWSALBCORS Amazon Web Services (load balancer) Strictly necessary Performs the same session-affinity function as AWSALB for cross-origin requests (set with SameSite=None; Secure). ~7 days
_ga Google Analytics Analytics Distinguishes individual visitors so we can analyze aggregate site usage. Set only after you accept analytics. Up to 2 years
_ga_365PPRTCN9 Google Analytics Analytics Persists Google Analytics 4 session state for this property. Set only after you accept analytics. Up to 2 years
curios_cookie_consent Curios (first-party browser localStorage, not an HTTP cookie) Strictly necessary Remembers your cookie-consent choice so we do not ask again on every visit. Until you clear the site’s data

Your Consent Choices

When you first visit our site, a cookie-consent banner appears with Accept and Decline options. Analytics cookies are denied by default: we use Google Consent Mode v2, so Google Analytics is held in a consent-denied state and no analytics cookies are set unless and until you click Accept. If you click Accept, we enable analytics and the _ga and _ga_365PPRTCN9 cookies are then set. If you click Decline (or simply ignore the banner), analytics stays switched off and only the strictly necessary cookies described above are used. Either way, your choice is saved in the curios_cookie_consent localStorage key so the banner does not reappear on every page. The strictly necessary cookies, including the item that records your consent choice, are always active because the site cannot function properly without them, and they do not require your consent.

You can withdraw your consent at any time. To do so, clear this site’s cookies and site data (storage) in your browser, since your consent choice is stored in your browser’s localStorage and is not removed by clearing cookies alone. This removes the stored consent record and any analytics cookies, and returns analytics to its default off state. The banner will appear again on your next visit so you can make a fresh choice. Declining or withdrawing consent will not affect your ability to use the website.

Third-Party Cookies

The only third party that sets cookies on our site is Google, through Google Analytics 4, and only after you have accepted analytics. When you accept, Google sets the _ga and _ga_365PPRTCN9 cookies described above and processes the associated data in accordance with its own policies. You can read more about how Google handles information in the Google Privacy Policy.

Our contact form is handled by Formspark (submit-form.com) and is protected against spam and abuse by Cloudflare Turnstile and Botpoison. These spam-protection services may process limited technical data about your request to verify that a submission is genuine. In our testing they did not set any persistent cookies on your device. We do not use a Cloudflare proxy or CDN in front of this site, so no Cloudflare proxy cookies are set when you browse it.

Managing Cookies

The easiest way to manage analytics cookies on our site is through our on-site consent banner: choose whether or not to accept analytics. If you later want to change your choice or withdraw consent, clear this site’s cookies and site data (storage) — including localStorage — as described above, and the banner will appear again so you can make a fresh choice.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies, and refuse cookies from specific or all sites; for instructions, check the help pages of your specific browser. Please note that the strictly necessary cookies keep the site working and secure; if you block them through your browser, parts of the site may not function correctly. Browser controls do not switch off our analytics on their own — for that, decline analytics in our banner or clear this site’s cookies and site data (including localStorage).

Legal Basis

For analytics cookies (the _ga and _ga_365PPRTCN9 cookies set by Google Analytics), our legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR, read together with the EU ePrivacy Directive that requires consent before non-essential cookies are placed. This is why our analytics cookies load only after you actively click Accept, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

For the strictly necessary cookies (AWSALB, AWSALBCORS, and the curios_cookie_consent storage item), consent is not required: under the EU ePrivacy Directive these cookies are exempt from the consent requirement because they are strictly necessary to deliver the website you requested and to keep it secure. We use them only for that purpose, and never for analytics, advertising, or profiling.
